Interview with Ronald Scliar Sasson at Friday 8th of March 2013 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? RS: The inspiration came from architectural aspects where valued lightness, purity and resistance lines. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? RS: Concrete aspects, and the goal was to achieve disseminate my work on simple lines. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? RS: Disclosure and finding international partners willing to develop joint projects. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? RS: 2 months FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? RS: It is a sequence of a line of work that follows this design concept in which I have worked. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? RS: I intend to sell the right to produce the design. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? RS: I felt the need in the market for a product like this. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? RS: No influence of other designers in this work. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? RS: People who enjoy well-resolved pure design. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? RS: Elegance, lightness and resistance. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? RS: Came well as the bench, the lightness of Andalusian horses FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? RS: Using 3D Studio, but mostly drawing freehand. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? RS: Get resistance over a very thin thickness. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? RS: Woodworkers of my confidence. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? RS: The steel insert inside the bench completely embedded. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? RS: Always pay attention to what is being done around the world even to do something similar. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? RS: Preserve the simplicity and thickness without losing resistance. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? RS: The decision came as a result of research and finding there something similar, making my design somehow unprecedented. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? RS: Knowing when to stop, making my work more clean. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? RS: No, just thank recognition for organizing the contest.
