FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PP: My main idea is to design a natural and beautiful bed for our pets.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PP: I couldn’t find stylish bed for my dog so I decided to design it myself. I wanted to add a nice bed for my dog in my living room.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
PP: I would like to distribute it to lots of homes, especially where owners value design staff also for their dogs or cats.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PP: To design it, took me about four months.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
PP: I’m an owner of a nice dog and a cat, and they are my family. So I wanted them to have the same importance than me, so I could not leave them lying on a regular pillow on the floor. So I decided do design them a nice bed with the same importance as my sofa.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
PP: This product is my own design. I financed the production by myself.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
PP: I love hanging with my animals, and they loved it too. I love to give them something nice, practical and natural. I love wood, so I use veneer wood for basis of a bed. I want to give the best material possible for my dog, especially because he has an artistic legs, I chose memory foam and natural cover from 100% hemp textile. I made two collections, one with natural cover and the other with artificial leather, because it’s durable and easy to maintain.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
PP: No, there were any other design that had the influence on my design.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
PP: Target customers are families who own a dog or a cat and want to add into their space a designed bed for their pets.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
PP: The bed is well made, from natural materials. It’s a long duration product. You can choose colour of veneer from 4 different types to match your furniture. You can match the cover of a pillow with your sofa or the wall. The bed is as very modern as totally practical.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
PP: First I want to make two beds, little (minny) and maxi. Also MAX represents maximal design, maximal practicality, maximal natural. In the respect for gained golden award I named my business- Max design.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
PP: At the beginning I always use only pen and paper. When I form my design and I’m satisfied with a shape I transfer it o 2D and 3D computer program

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
PP: My unique aspect is a usage of colours, different textures and combination of materials.

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
PP: Yes, for producing a prototype I had help from my colleague who owns a joiner’s workshop.

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
PP: For making the bed we need hydraulic press and a mould. And for each size of bed a different mould.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
PP: From an idea to a design there were no troubles. First challenge shows at realization of my concept. How to turn a veneer so it would not broke, what’s the right angle of a bed, what’s the right size of it. Beside all of our compromises I had to persist on my design.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
PP: I found your design competition on internet and I decided to submit my design.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
PP: I perceive and get to know a lot of workshops, like joiner’s, upholsterer and metallurgy workshop. And also learn a different mode of proceedings the realization of a bed.
