Interview with Alexander Werbickas at Monday 16th of April 2012 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? AW: The main idea of the Smart Media System was to create a seamless interaction between the users and their content, focusing on an ecosystem of products that integrates media technology. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? AW: Focusing on compiling data to design the next step in home entertainment integration. Key features to the Smart Media System are the wireless transmission of data and the ability to share content through your own network and other networks. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? AW: The Smart Media System concept was carefully developed in a three months time, however the concept continued to grow for eight more months. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? AW: The design team includes Alexander Werbickas, Swoongbeen Lim, Kailen Nordhausen-Willcox, Oliver Elliott, and John McCabe who created the Smart Media System. FS: Who is the target customer for his design? AW: The Smart Media System is targeted towards young professionals. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? AW: Wirelessly streaming any media to any device that is connected to the network is unique in today's market. The Hub acts as a central gate and also has the ability to send a split data signal to the TV and the Smart Controller. Mandatory advertisements are sent to the Smart Controller periodically while your media continues on the TV. This allows the user to gain metadata from the advertisements creating a one of a kind interaction. The transforming Smart Controller is also unique in its ability to give the user multiple options for interaction along with the Camera and Charging Dock. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? AW: Keeping up with technology in today's world is challenging because of the rapid progression.
