Interview with Casa Xplendor at Monday 16th of April 2012

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
CX: Modern Mexico.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
CX: We want to show the modern, elegant and youthful side of Mexico through tequila. We wanted to produce a different tequila not the same traditional, old and rustic tequila.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
CX: Keep promoting this brand to show the world that there is a Modern side in Mexico.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
CX: It has been years with this project and as time goes by we evolve in the way we offer and promote this tequila. Trying to do something different and new each time.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
CX: We wanted to move away from the traditional concept that tequila has.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
CX: We own the rights and we produce this product and sell it.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
CX: The necessity to show a different side of Mexico. To change perceptions and ideas that most people have of tequila and of Mexico.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
CX: New tequila drinkers that wish to drink a different tequila.

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
CX: The bottle design, the name and the concept.

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
CX: Tequila 29 Two Nine has different meanings. One is to represent the night with the rime Two Nine - Tonight and by this we can give a tribute to the night scene. Also the TWO represents the two most important elements in our tequila that it is the agave plant and the soil where we grow our agaves. We take great care of this elements because it has an direct impact in the quality of the final product. The NINE represents the 9 steps in producing a tequila.

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
CX: The general image. The bottle, name, colors and the general feeling to it.

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
CX: We made focus groups and tequila tastings.

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
CX: We want to show our tequila to the world, that is the main reason to submit it to a competition.

FS: Thank you for providing us with this opportunity to interview you.
