FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
PS: Core draws inspiration from the remarkable process by which gemstones are formed. The intense pressure and heat these natural elements undergo give birth to the stunning treasures that captivate our senses. It is this very process that serves as the foundation for the necklace's design. The centerpiece of the necklace is a breathtaking 2.5cts natural Sri Lankan pink sapphire, which represents the pinnacle of natural beauty that results from this process. This gemstone, like all precious gems, is a true marvel to behold, having slowly grown over time into a coveted treasure that nature offers us. Complementing this beautiful sapphire are two Silicon specimens representing the earth's crust, from which these gems are born. These specimens were carefully selected for their dark color and rough texture, being a stark contrast to the bright pink and smooth faceting of the sapphire. Together, these elements create a truly exceptional piece of jewelry that celebrates the remarkable process by which gemstones are formed. The necklace serves as a timeless reminder of the beauty and wonder of the natural world, a treasure to be cherished and admired for years to come.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
PS: My ultimate goal wat to create an aesthetic representation of the genesis of gemstones. Behind this idea, lies the deep desire to showcase the core - the very birth- of what makes the art of jewellery ultimately a natural precess, a gift from nature.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
PS: Over a span of three years, from 2019 to 2021, the design journey unfolded. Each year brought new insights and challenges, leading to the refinement of the concept. Countless hours of research and dedication were poured into capturing the essence of gemstone genesis.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
PS: I embarked on a personal journey, my mission was to design a necklace that would serve as a profound testament to the very essence of artistic jewelry creation. It became a necessary tribute, a homage to the magnificent wonders of nature that inspire and shape our craft.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
PS: The design underwent meticulous craftsmanship in my personal workshop in Beijing, where it was transformed into an exquisite art piece. Each minute detail was attended to with utmost care, showcasing a profound dedication to the craft. Eventually, the art piece captivated the discerning eye of one of our esteemed collectors, solidifying its place as a cherished addition to their remarkable collection.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
PS: In my belief, jewelry stands as the ultimate platform to pay homage to the genesis of precious stones. Within the realm of jewelry, a necklace, gracefully resting upon a woman's chest, assumes the noblest and most captivating role in showcasing nature's exquisite marvels. It becomes a powerful and poetic ode to the inherent beauty and enduring allure of Mother Nature.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
PS: This individual is marked by their remarkable expertise and intimate familiarity with the world of jewelry. Having been immersed in an environment abundant with exquisite pieces, their profound knowledge extends beyond jewelry to encompass various forms of art. Their discerning eye allows them to appreciate the intricate details and craftsmanship of each creation. Despite their discerning taste and potentially high expectations, this customer exhibits a genuine appreciation for the jewelry they acquire.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
PS: This exceptional design distinguishes itself from others through its unparalleled and unique composition. It is characterized by an irreproducible design, incorporating the exquisite and rare 2.5cts pink sapphire and silicon specimens. What sets it apart further is the expert craftsmanship that brings it to life, utilizing non-toxic materials and adhering to a zero waste process. The combination of these remarkable elements elevates the design to a league of its own, embodying both artistic excellence and a commitment to sustainability.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
PS: The name chosen for this piece serves as an additional enhancer, directing attention to the very heart—the core—of the creation. It draws focus to the captivating spectacle of the beautiful pink sapphire emerging from the depths of the earth, symbolizing the natural and mesmerizing origins of this remarkable gemstone. The name serves as a gateway, inviting admirers to delve into the depths and unearth the profound beauty that lies within.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
PS: I wholeheartedly believe that the culmination of this artistic piece transcends the sum of its individual components. The presence of the two rare and sizeable silica specimens, which are seldom found in their pure form, is a remarkable discovery in itself. It is a testament to the generosity of nature, a true blessing to encounter not just one but two of these exceptional treasures. Furthermore, the Sri Lankan Pink sapphire, with its excellent quality, stands as a magnificent work of art on its own. Together, these elements harmonize and intertwine, forming a masterpiece that surpasses their individual significance, inviting awe and admiration.
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
PS: Given the tribute to Nature, meticulous attention was devoted to a process that embraced precision while adhering to a zero waste approach, abstaining from the use of harmful chemicals. This conscientious approach was implemented to honor and respect the natural world, ensuring that every step of the journey echoed sustainability and environmental consciousness. By embracing a zero waste philosophy and eliminating harmful substances, the process harmonized with the inherent beauty and purity of nature, underscoring the deep reverence for the earth's precious resources.
