Interview with Lichen Ding at Thursday 19th of October 2023 FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design? LD: The spirit of the design concept is to inspire people to rethink the meaning of luxury. The real luxury is not the unreachable high above, but a kind of rare quietness and temperature, which draws life closer and hits people's hearts directly. FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve? LD: From project difficulties to advantages, every step requires dedicated efforts to make it more competitive in the market. FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design? LD: We will continue to pay attention to customer feedback after the project is opened, so that we can make timely adjustments and achieve customer profitability goals. FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept? LD: It took one year from design to completion. FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration? LD: Designers positioned it as "French life aesthetics" in a way that blended with the local "overseas Chinese culture". Enjoy immersive luxury accommodation experience. FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself? LD: This is a completed and already in operation hotel. FS: What made you design this particular type of work? LD: My belief in design is that every project I undertake is unique. FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work? LD: Local culture FS: Who is the target customer for his design? LD: Business trips and tourists. FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts? LD: The design elements combine "French style" and "local regional culture" to make it unique. FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean? LD: Our inscription means' Art de Vivre 'and we hope it exudes an artistic sense of life. FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project? LD: In the design concept, we used AutoCAD and 3Dmax. FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design? LD: With our craftsmanship, the hotel blends classic elements with fashionable and exquisite styles, cleverly showcasing the local multicultural and elegant charm. FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills? LD: An excellent work requires the trust and perseverance of customers, as well as the cooperation of the construction team working day and night on site. Without everyone's dedication, we cannot achieve this satisfactory result. FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design? LD: The visual effect conveyed is more perfect and precise. FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design? LD: In order to fully explore the local regional culture, we conducted multiple days of on-site inspections and recorded historical events. FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept? LD: Hurry construction dates and fixed capital investment. FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition? LD: Striving for excellent results is the best encouragement for all teams involved in this project. FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work? LD: Every time the design is completed, it is a learning process. Despite the difficulties, it has also accumulated a lot of new experience, which is happy and fulfilling. FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions? LD: No.
