List of Gamification Badges

Home > Methodology > List of Badges
This page introduces and provides a list of all design award badges at A' Design Awards.

What is a Badge?
A Badge is a visual indicator of an achievement status. For example when a designer wins several design awards, we provide a badge to highlight this achievement. Unlike other achievement systems, we have designed the A’ Design Award badges to create actual value. While using badges are considered part of gamification efforts by many institutions to increase interaction and involvement of end-users, our badge system is primarily focused on participant profiling, participant highlighting as well as creating added value for participants.

A' Design Award Badge System
A' Design Award badges are used for anonymous profiling of participants highlighting aggregate tendencies and preferences, to potentially determine lead users, star users, contributors, achievers and explorers of design. The badge system gives us the possibility to understand how participants use our platform. The badge system also helps us advertise and promote the usage of useful platform functions, services and processes. We aim to provide real benefits and incentives to participants who make use of the badge system by providing discounts, gifts or free services to badge owners. The primary aim of our badge system is to help competition participants make the most use of our design award platform; we use badges as an incentive, for participants to discover our free services and tools, for teaching about our functionality and improving awareness for free services we provide. By taking part in badge system participants will be able to make use of our system to its fullest and potentially enjoy free gifts, free services and tools.

A' Design Award Badge System Principles
We have several principles for our badge system: 1. Each badge is obtainable by any participant who won the awards; there are no one-time year or time or event dependent badges, event related badges for gala night or meetings can be obtained next year if you miss this year for example. 2. Badges can be freely obtained, there are no extra costs required to obtain a badge. 3. Badges are useful at explaining the designer profile; people who read badges of a designer shall be able to learn more about a designer. 4. We provide detailed descriptive texts and how to obtain info for all badges. 5. Badges are only positive; we do not have a badge for disqualification, low score or any other elements that could decrease the value of participant profiles where badges are displayed. 6. Useful and beneficial: A' Design Award badges create value for its participants. 7. Documented: We have a complete list of all badges that could be read by the participants so that they could aim to reach those select badges.

Earning Badges
