Megha Garg, the lead designer of the winning work Urban Army explains “The Urban Brigade series of dresses is designed for the global urban women. The main inspiration behind the idea of these free flowing draped dresses was a kurta, the basic upper garment of the Indian subcontinent and a dupatta, a rectangular cloth worn over the shoulder teamed with a kurta. Different cuts and length of dupatta inspired panels were draped loosely from the shoulder to make an upper garment which could be of the same purpose as a kurta but more trendy, occasion wear, light weight and simple.
