| DESIGN NAME: Vanke Emerald Art Gallery PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Gallery INSPIRATION: The designer has broken the routine of expressionism, creating a tranquil and beautiful living art gallery with minimum design, simple skills and modern art elements. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Moderate use of decorations and colors avoids many meaningless elements, allowing residents to keep a best distance from endless desire and find the inner peace among all the hustle and bustle of modern life. By making full use of the architectural space and natural light, the designer create a space nestling in nature. Pure material and color together with the unique triangle window maximize the natural light in the space and provide chances to experience the changes of natural light and four seasons. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is no deliberate expressions or tedious decorations in this space. Everything looks natural and elegant, manifesting the power of minimalism. Paper sculptures by the English artist Richard Sweeney hang in the air, soft and smooth, to echo the transparent architectural model area. Hardness and softness combine together, shaping the depth of the space with the dancing melody. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Upon entering the gallery, a stone counter stands against the bare concrete wall, simple and elegant. The reception area is designed with a French window on the right, which introduces the natural light and views into the center, developing a dialogue between nature and souls. Filling Spaces art installation brightens the grey space with lovely pink balloons which float in the light and shadow as well as in the soft music. Mixed feelings and immersing romance penetrate deep into every corner, stimulating the senses of the visitors. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Project Area: 1100 square meters TAGS: Zhou Ping, Lestyle Design, Vanke Group, Minimalism RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Nowadays, spaces with excessive decorations and superfluous colors usually bring us chaotic visual impact. Different from this kind of expressionism, the designer always holds onto the ideal to create simple, unique and elegant spaces. CHALLENGE: By employing austere wood, elegant items, simple colors and natural concrete, the designer has tried to show the tranquility of the space and explore the supreme beauty in simple life. While the art installations and paper sculptures add to the space a dynamic touch to avoid dull stillness.
