DESIGN NAME: Art Gallery Logo
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo and VI
INSPIRATION: The inspiration of the project were the two artists who own the Ana and Gaja Art Gallery. I looked what kind of designs they create, shapes they use and the overall feeling that they wanted to represent (clean and dynamic). On one side there were aesthetics with white, round shapes (represents the clean side) and on the other side colors, patterns and simple cuts (represents the dynamic part). I wanted to incorporate both artist equally so I also took inspiration for the shapes from letters of each designers name (Ana, Gaja).
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a logo design for an art gallery and shop of ceramic art and textile design owned by Ana and Gaja. The shape of the sign was inspired from their names and if you look closely you can read both of them. The sign represents the two aspects, two individuals under one roof, a clean, dynamic and modern aesthetics. The design is applicable for various purposes (printed materials, digital media) and in various sizes.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This logo design can be used on business cards, flyers, invitations and other printed materials of the gallery. It also works well for digital purpouses (on banners, photographies for social media, emails,...) and other advertising needs.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started on May 2017 and finished on July 2017 in Sezana, Slovenia.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I started with some quick hand sketches which I digitalised. Then I contiuned to upgrade and play with them in Adobe Illustrator untill I formed the desired design.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The design performs well on printed materials and digital media. It works good when used in small or big sizes and on light backgrounds. The smallest possible size of the sign is 7,6mm (wide) x 12mm (height).

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Before starting the designing process I made a research on similar smaller, private galleries. What kind of names and logos do they use, how they represent themself visually. The research mostly based on internet research but I aslo visited some smaller galleries to see how the graphics function in reality. I also made a research on two artists of the gallery, what kind of art and aesthetics they make, what atmosphere they want in their gallery, what they want to communicate with the logo.
CHALLENGE: The greatest challenge in designing the logo was the equivalent presentation of both artists who represent the art gallery. I was asking myself how to unite two different individuals with different aestetics in one unconventional, modern form.
