| DESIGN NAME: Quadro Qusabi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shelving System INSPIRATION: Scaffolding versatility UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Flexibility, versatility, multifunctionality, customization, easy reassembly without tools OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Shelves and drawers are fixed on wedges between post just like scaffolding. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: aluminum, wood, plastic SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: posts - 840, 1320, 1960 cm long. shelves - 280, 360 cm wide; 280(440), 360, cm long. Also other sized desks, drawers, stoppers. TAGS: shelves, module, shelving system, multifunctional RESEARCH ABSTRACT: New lifestyle caused by a transition from Industrial to Information era starts a chain reaction of changes inside people’s homes. For many centuries single or few functions interior goods like beds, tables, chairs, cupboards, etc were in use. Recently all over the world, especially in Japan, products with more complicated functions appeared. The target of my research is to formulate the directions of multifunctional and system goods development, the main problems of existing products and consumer demands towards traditional furniture pieces. CHALLENGE: I wanted to create a new multifunctional shelving system, which has both playfulness and usefulness.
