RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The timeless allure of Papyrus daybed epitomizes the marriage of antic inspiration with contemporary aesthetics.
The teal blue of the wood echoes to Egyptian chromatic palette ; the white and gold upholstery is inspired by Antic fabrics.
Through modern processes, the design entails digitizing the manufacturing procedures while also retaining the exceptional quality of handmade products for upholstery.
That blend confirms the environmentally conscious ethos in Sophia Chraibi Giorgi furniture design.
CHALLENGE: My challenge was about genesis of Moroccan Lounge that showcase the influence of Roman empire in North Africa. Ancient architecture discovered in Volubilis featured a patio, atrium, a layout similar to moroccan riad. The courtyard leads to the triclinium, an ornately decorated reception area for guests, who lie down on meridienne and are served on low three footed tables.
This influence is still evident in contemporary Moroccan lifestyle where architecture includes traditional lounge, with traditional lounge similar to Roman chaise longue that reflects the legacy of Roman Empire.
