PRIMARY FUNCTION: Olive Oil
INSPIRATION: From a beautiful Frantoio tree farm in Sweden, to a strong online presence. Oliv is the perfect combination of quality, class and modernity. We are inspired by the minimalist movement to create a clean and bold design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Oliv is an Extra Virgin Olive Oil brand from Sweden. One of the pioneers to grow Frantoio trees in Sweden and export world wide. They produce a high quality and exclusive product.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2020, and was completed in November 2020. The Victor Weiss Studio is located in Blumenau, Brazil and Oliv is from Skane in Sweden. The brand launch is expected in early 2023 as it has faced challenges since the pandemic.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For the primary product bottle, we went for a glass with glossy finish that reflects in the light and is great for showcasing vibrant colors. For the secondary product bottle, a specialty Oil that carries peppery notes on the finish (arugula and mustard greens) we chose a clean, hand printed matte label with blue textured foil on the logo. Both bottles are made from Borosilicate glass. The box is all black in color and the logo in matte. The box is filled with finely shredded timber made of hinoki wood, most popular for its fragrance.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Emma Olsson, the founder, aims to show the world that it is possible to grow Frantoio trees and produce olive oil in the cold weather of Sweden. This is unique because Frantoio trees are commonly known to require a Mediterranean-like climate in order to survive. In honor of this iconic fact we chose to include the Swedish flag into the branding and packaging. Through this we aim to inspire pride in the swedish market and spark curiosity of other nations.
CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this project was the choice of the glass. As it should be elegant and sustainable, but most importantly preserve the product quality. To display the color of the Extra Virgin Olive oil, was also a priority for Emma. Usually olive oil packagings will be in tinted glass or tins to avoid exposure to sunlight. However, along with a partner manufacturer, we were able to put together a patent combination of Borosilicate glass and specific ingredients (confidencial) which created the perfect material; a unique semi clear glass that maintains the visibility and the product quality of the Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
