DESIGN NAME: One Line
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Garden Furniture
INSPIRATION: The growing demand for charging mobile devices outdoors was inspiriation to this project. Mobile devices have become our everyday life and it is hard to imagine life without them today. The assumption of the project was to prepare a devices that allows you to charge the phone using only solar energy. The look of the table was to be minimalist, one of the inspirations was the lack table, the most popular table in the world available.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sola furniture collection allows to charge mobile devices anywhere using the energy generated by the clean solar energy. Cells with a total power of 26 watts are placed in a discrete casing which charges the internal battery. The accumulated energy can be used to charge mobile devices and to illuminate the tabletop. The panel size has been optimally fitted for energy needs, which is why the SOLA products are independent and ecological.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The table is equipped with a photovoltaic panel that charges the battery placed inside. When the battery is fully charged it can then charge 8-10 smartphones. If you want to charge your phone, you can use the USB or USB-C socket. In addition, the table is equipped with LED backlight activated by a touch button.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: the project was developed in Warsaw. Conceptual work lasted from May 2019. After many prototypes and tests, the project was finally implemented in January 2020.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: the products casing are made of powder-coated steel and aluminum. All additional elements are easily removable, which allows for quick service and replacement of components. The photovoltaic panel is not an integral part, after the product has been used up all components can be recycled.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Coffee table 550mm x 780mm x 550mm
Sunbed 1150mm x 680mm x 550mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During tests, we checked the demand for additional possibility of charging phones outdoors. We collected data from our other products equipped with chargers. Studies have shown that around 10-15 people use the charger daily, charging the phone for an average of 20 minutes. This allowed us to estimate the size of the solar panel and battery capacity.
CHALLENGE: The engineering challenge was to create lightweight and durable structures that could fit all electronic components.
