DESIGN NAME: C FutureCity
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mega mixed-use
INSPIRATION: Pure simplicity-The iconic twin towers makes people aware the “Power of Two”. The shapes of the towers were designed to respond to the site conditions, and address the urban context.
Revealing-Inspired by constant flow of fluid on landscape,we used different materials at the podium with a rhythmic change of solid and transparency which convey a sense of revelation.
Flow-Flow is a notion that represents a gesture of entrance.A series of public realm throughout Phase 1 & 2 create stratums on site.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Shangsha is an “urban ghetto” in Shenzhen that is in need for rejuvenation. It is about paving the future. It is about changing people’s lives for the good. It is very rare to find a client that has a passion to create world class architecture.
The Centralcon Shangsha mixed-use development is an urban renewal project with an aim to transform the area and change the way people live for generations to come. Here in this project we have created this unique balance with client for a change.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Phase 1 forms the gateway to the city. Due to the limitation of site boundary, we design several public spaces for different end-users to share, and more importantly, we link these public nodes together to adjacent metro stations to enhance ‘connectivity’.
Phase 2 locates at the south and is within closed proximity to the Mangrove Nature Reserve area. The nature of it makes Phase 2 a smaller scaled street-retailed development, with a respect to original context.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: There are two MTR lines crossing both side of the Future City. Shangsha and Xiasha Stations sitting closely to the site, provide citizens most convenient connection.
The north front of the Future City bound tightly with Binhe Boulevard, which is one of the most essential freeways in Shenzhen. In addition, the sub-major roads bring 35 public bus lines to Shenzhen Bay and Futian Station. The varieties of transportation systems give the Future City a tight connection with the modern Shenzhen.
