FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
EP: the main inspiration was Marilyn and her legendary scene in the movie "The seven year itch" but also my Venetian memories in the Fortuny palace and the legendary Delphos dress created by the master.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
EP: the main objective was to create a table with a different design than usual and with the peculiarity of being able to adapt to different environments and decorations. The base of the table is inspired by fashion and is in fact conceived as a garment of which you can choose the color before purchasing or possibly replace over time.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
EP: The projects are many because this design is already enjoying great success in Asia and Europe and it will surely be appreciated in new markets especially after this victory and confirmation of good design.
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
EP: For the project I normally take a few days between the idea and its design but for the control of the details and the correct measurements and proportions it is a continuous step that reaches up to the prototyping which I would say is the most important verification moment where it takes a few months to get there .
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
EP: the project comes from an inspiration and from the sum of my experiences and intuitions but also very often from Needs that have not been satisfied. Very often, as in this case, it is I who proposed the project to the company knowing that the same worked very well and in an artisanal way the leather, the material of which the table skirt is made.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
EP: Yes my design is produced by a company that believed in this project
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
EP: I noticed that in many cases the design of a table did not fit into the context in which it was optimally inserted. I wanted to create a modern design by taking advantage of the possibility of using a large palette of colors using the elegance of the tanned leather so that it could harmonize with the single environment in which the table was placed.
FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
EP: My favorite designers come from Italy and they are the ones who have made the history of design, one above all.? Achille Castiglioni
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
EP: It is a target that gathers various age ranges because the table can transform itself and express different sensations based on the color or material of the top used. It can become a modern or classic piece at the same time and this is its winning secret.
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
EP: Is one of a kind and for this I am proud of it
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
EP: It is the name of the famous sexy icon Marilyn Monroe and wants to remember her figure, her beauty and also the famous scene in the movie "The seven year itch" where her pleated skirt rises and reveals her wonderful legs.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
EP: Any tool that can make me understand shapes and proportions
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
EP: The unique aspect is to have abstracted the design of a dress to make it a table
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
EP: I worked with leather artisans who allowed me to create my design flawlessly, improving its shapes and reducing waste
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
EP: Here the technology iscraftsmanship of the workmanship
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
EP: It was a market analysis and personal observations
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
EP: The biggest challenge is to make the client understand your project and keep faith with the initial idea without upsetting the project during the implementation phase.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
EP: I decided to participate because I believe in and because I recognize A 'Design Awards as a competition that can help to understand and maintain a high level of world design.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
EP: In this job I learned how to work the material, especially the leather and how to work by playing with the shadows and lights between the aspects of my design.
FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
EP: I would like to say to get used to abstracting a thought, an image or an emotion and a good conceptual and design exercise
